Once upon a time, I read a freakin' TON of webcomics. All kinds of them from all over the place. Over the years, these have been slowly pared down: some of them go on an infinite hiatus, some of them are cancelled, some reach the finishing point to their story and are completed. However, some of them I walk away from because I either no longer enjoy them, or there is something else going on that is tainting the entire experience.
One of the "Biggest" that I quit a little while back was Looking For Group. It was a meandering, virtually directionless whose humor was wearing threadbare, sometimes the supposed punchline wasn't a punchline at all, weeks would go by with no development whatsoever, and the humor became less "humor" and more "cruelty for your enjoyment" and completely pointless. Moderately attractive art it does have, with rather good production values, but it felt more like a chore to read than something to do for fun.
The latest to hit my chopping block, is the collective works of "R.H. Junior", from over at rhjunior.com. There were a couple of stories I had been drawn into enough that I was going back daily for years checking for updates, "Tales of the Questor" is something of an epic adventure tale, and "Quentyn Quinn, Space Ranger" is supposed to be the space faring adventures of a descendant of the title character from "Tales of the Questor". However, "QQSR" has devolved into some sort of political soap-box, "TOTQ" has been spinning its wheels for a very, very long time, and the author himself has been posting some angry, hateful, childish fanboy-esque rants about things that harm his personal political and religious sensibilities. From some of his responses to readers as well as his soapboxed opinions, it seems that he may possible be one of those people who firmly supports the people amassing stockpiles of weapons in guarded compounds while they wait for the right moment to go to war with the Government of the USA. The rhetoric is just too hatefully spiced to safely peel away the vitriolic layers and find any valid points that may lie inside. I don't need that in my life, so I'm cutting it out, it's gone, I'm done with it.
I just felt like posting all of this in a journal as this has been something that I have been reading absolutely for years... even though it's just a comic it feels significant to make this change.
